The 2019 Spring VAR will be held April 25-80 at Powhattan Boy Scout Camp in Wytheville, VA, hosted by the James River Grotto. Information is still preliminary. Check back frequently.
Registration prices have not been announced yet.
The family-friendly camp has 17,000 acres, hiking trails, a lake to canoe in, and a rock climbing wall, with plenty of room for camping. There will be a place to park RVs (it is unknown yet if hookups are available). Showers are available in a separate building.
For those who don't care to tent it, there are also cabins with bunks, and at least Adirondak shelters, 3 sided shelters with bunks that can sleep 6-8. No information is available yet on sign ups.
SATURDAY CONSERVATION PROJECT:
There will be dinner on Saturday evening, with plenty of vegetarian options. No further information on dinner or the speaker is available at this time.
There will be guided trips on Saturday, and cave maps and markers for those who want to cave on Friday or Sunday.
The ER-NCRC will be hosting onsite vertical practice to help you practice your techniques, or optimize your vertical system.
Dinner will be served in the big pavillion, which has plenty of picnic tables. After Dave Socky's presentation, the evening will continue with John Fox spinning your favorite dance tunes.
