The Virginia Region of the National Speleological Society consists of 40+ local caving groups in and around Virginia and surrounding states. We promote the study and science of speleology, explore and maps caves, protect and conserve caves, manage limited access caves, and generally promote safe caving throughout the region, and promote fellowship and cooperation among all Regional cavers and organizations.
New Management Plan for Sites and Cave Rat Caves
An access and managment arrangement has been worked out with the new owners of Sites and Cave Rat Caves. Caver access will now be allowed January 1 to August 31 every year. Caving parties are limited to 8 people and 3 cars, with parking restrictions. Earl Suitor will manage the cave, and validated permits are required. 2017 Spring VAR announced
The 2017 Spring VAR will be held April 28-30 at Thorns Springs Park, near Franklin, WV. Some details are posted, others coming soon!
